We started the day later than we expected but once we were up and going we saw a lot! We had breakfast at the hostel which consisted of eggs, bacon, and toast! We were SOOOO EXCITED! We haven’t had anything but pastries since we got here, so breakfast was comforting. After we checked out, we went on a little tour of the area surrounding the hostel. There was this large wall surrounding a market that we wanted to see, but we would have had to pay to get in, so we decided not to. Instead we went to a local pond on the way to the train station.
After out short train ride we arrived in Pisa. We experienced Pisa in a different way than others who have visited. It all started when a lady on the bridge (the local bridge troll) got very angry at us for taking pictures. She threw several pieces of trash and candy at us, but only hit Claire. She was also shouting profane words at us. Then on our way back to the train station, Claire was pushed on the shoulder by an Italian for an unknown reason. Other then these instances we had a great time taking pictures “holding” the leaning tower.
Cody, Claire and Jacob wanted to climb to the top of the tower, but Kyle and I just wanted to people watch. We had to rush back in time to make our train, but we did. We rode the train back to Florence and switched to another train to Podava. This is the train that reminded us all of the compartments in Harry Potter. We made a local Italian friend that helped us know when to expect to get off. From Podava we rode a bus to Bassano, and then we had a taxi take us back to Paderno. We are glad that we have finally gotten the hang of using the trains seeing that we will validate out Rail Passes this upcoming week.
your pics crack me up... I love em!
